Leopold Summerer: Head of the Advanced Concepts Team at the European Space Agency. As a highly multidisciplinary research group, his team serves as a think tank studying technologies and ideas that are of strategical importance in the long term.  His own research area is on spacecraft power systems. He will be one of the judges for the camp’s competition.

Honored Guests

Chit Hong Yam: Dr. Yam joined the HKUST the Center for Space Science research and the Mathematics department about a year ago. In Oct. 2012, He led a team of students at HKUST to collaborate with the Advanced Concepts Team of  the European Space Agency to design orbits about Jupiter, which ranked 2nd in an international competition . His research focuses on interplanetary trajectory design. He will also be one of the judges for the camp’s competition.

Henry Tye: Professor Tye is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist at the HKUST Institute for Advanced Study. Professor Tye's primary research interest is in elementary particle theory, including topics such as high energy phenomena, interface between particle physics and cosmology and superstring theory. He is known for his contribution to the inflationary universe scenario, which is generally accepted as the way our universe began.

Chan Kwing Lam is a professor in the HKUST Mathematics department and the director of the Center for Space Science Research. His current research interests lie in Solar, Planetary and Lunar research. He made headlines for being the first one to analyse the data on lunar craters by China’s Chang’E lunar probe.
