Talk Title: Dissipatively driven many-body pairing state for cold fermionic atoms in an optical lattice

We discuss the general principles for the preparation of many-body states of cold fermionic atoms in an optical lattice via controlled dissipative processes. Based on Pauli blocking, we find complete sets of jump operators which allow for the dissipative preparation of many-body pairing states for fermions with various symmetries. We illustrate the possible applications of the dissipative process as a novel cooling scheme for ultracold fermions in an optical lattice, and discuss the possibility of realizing the jump operators stroboscopically using alkaline-earth like atoms in lattice potentials.
