ER Fluid: Micro Sensor Actuated with conductive polymer
Supervisor : Prof. Weijia Wen
Student : Miss. Man Mei Sum

This research topic aimed to find out the characteristics of the smart material "Conductive polymer". This polymer will be combined with the microchip to produce the micro-sensor. This fascinated material which converts from mechanical movement to electrical signal in instant respond time. Due to this characteristic, the movement of the microchip can show with electrical signal in the oscilloscope. The illustration of fabrication process, the investigation of properties of conductive polymer, and the testing of the micro sensor have been done for the research.

Miss Man successfully fabricated the micro sensor and tested the sensitivity. The material of her research will be used to enrich the content for the mini-lecture series 2008.
