The underlying philosophy of our scheme is: Students learn best by doing, not listening. Our scheme aims at to develop a learning culture by offering students a way to see and encounter a number of physical inventions that have been successfully developed in the department of Physics at HKUST in the past few years.

We describe our experience in introducing an innovative learning & research scheme in program level to undergraduate Physics students. A feature of our scheme is the requirement for students to develop demo/teaching kit to be used for both university and secondary school students. The scheme was successful in providing a platform for students to strengthen their scientific knowledge, creativity, team oriented and independent work ability in dealing with outcome-based research projects.
