Physics Major Entry Scholarships

To encourage students to choose physics as their major, the Department of Physics offer up to ten entry scholarships annually to first-year undergraduate students at School of Science who perform excellence in physics courses and will choose physics as their major. Other outstanding performance in Physics will also be considered.

The amount of scholarships is $5,000 or $10,000, provided that the maximum limit of scholarship allowance of a student, which is his/her tuition fee plus $50,000, is not exceeded..

First-year science students with excellent grades in Physics courses: Grade A or above in PHYS 1111 or PHYS 1112, grade B+ or above in PHYS 1312.

Interested Year-1 students should email the filled application form (download the application form) and a copy of unofficial transcript to on/before 16 March. The unofficial transcript should have a printed date after the add/drop period in Spring term.

(a) Application deadline: 16 March. Please email your filled application form and a copy of transcript to on/before the deadline.
(b) Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.
(c) Result: Scholarship offers will be made before 30 April.
(d) Scholarships will be awarded during the following Fall term on the condition that the awardee will register as a Physics major and that the cumulative GPA is 2.85 or above.
