This is the Atom and Quantum Optics lab at the Department of Physics,
the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), located
at the beautiful Clear Water Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong SAR. In this
website, you will explore our interesting and fundamental research
in atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics. At lab,
 we
cool atoms to a temperature of below 0.0001 Kelvin using lasers and
magnetic fields (without using a refrigerator at all!), and count
single photons.
"Think as a physicist, and work as an engineer"----this is the way we
are working as modern scientific researchers. We are aiming at
discovering and solving new physics problems by making use of and
developing advanced technologies.
